Veeva Systems is a mission-driven organization and pioneer in industry cloud, helping life sciences companies bring therapies to patients faster. As one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies in history, we surpassed $2B in revenue in our last fiscal year with extensive growth potential ahead.
At the heart of Veeva are our values: Do the Right Thing, Customer Success, Employee Success, and Speed. We’re not just any public company – we made history in 2021 by becoming a public benefit corporation (PBC), legally bound to balancing the interests of customers, employees, society, and investors.
As a Work Anywhere company, we support your flexibility to work from home or in the office, so you can thrive in your ideal environment.
Join us in transforming the life sciences industry, committed to making a positive impact on its customers, employees, and communities.
The Role
The US Commercial Strategy Business Consulting (BC) team is focused on supporting the life sciences industry through the design and delivery of solutions for the core business issues faced by today’s commercial pharmaceutical organizations.  We do this with honesty and humility, a focus on customer success, and enabling career success for our consultants, at a speed that encourages pioneering & growth over alignment & consensus.

The Principal Consultant role entails working independently and with account teams to connect with clients to deeply understand their commercial agenda (needs and goals), quickly identify service and technology solutions to accelerate their agenda, guide project teams toward on-time, high-quality delivery while proactively preparing clients for the next steps, and evolve the skills and capabilities of the USCS practice.

Principal Consultants are expected to spend most of their time in the marketplace with clients – supporting ongoing work and helping the market understand Veeva’s unique solution offerings for commercial teams. Successful candidates will come with a strong subject matter understanding of today’s commercial challenges & opportunities; functional knowledge of roles, processes, tools, and systems; as well as demonstrated success in repeatedly developing client programs from single projects. Strong delivery & leadership skills within management
consulting organizations are a must. Typical projects include GTM model assessment & optimization, omnichannel enablement & activation, launch readiness & acceleration, KAM transformation, and commercial function optimization.

This is a home-based, full-time permanent role with the preference – but not requirement – for candidates to live on the East Coast, enabling local client visits.

Veeva Systems does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, OPT) for this employment position.
What You’ll Do

  • Grow a $2-4M per year book of business, collaborating with other business consulting groups (e.g., Content, Analytics, Medical, etc.) to scale and deliver one Veeva voice to the market
  • Lead multiple concurrent project teams: staying two steps ahead of the client, conceptualizing insightful deliverables with no surprises, and coaching/developing project team members on how to do the same
  • Act as BC account lead for designated accounts, enhancing account relationship/stakeholder maps and developing actionable strategies for deepening commercial presence
  • Become a thought partner and a trusted advisor to your clients, demonstrating a deep understanding of the client’s business and delivering Veeva-sourced & additional marketplace insights that may inform clients’ strategic direction
  • Support the enhancement and socialization of BC standard offerings, relating technical product features to business impacts for clients across the full suite of Veeva data and technology products

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of team leadership experience in Management Consulting
  • Background and industry experience within the sales or brand domain preferred
  • Strong record of delivering client advisory engagements
  • Core management consulting skills, including workshop facilitation, client presentations, project management, and ability to develop structured approaches/methodologies to business problems
  • Strong team leadership skills and ability to manage engagement economics
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel roughly 50%; this can vary depending on engagement

Perks & Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance
  • Flexible PTO and company paid holidays

Work Where It’s Best for You

Work Anywhere means you can work in an office or at home on any given day. It’s about getting the work done in the way and place that works best for each person. This applies across all locations and departments.

Work Anywhere does not mean work at any time. We have predictable core hours where employees are generally available for meetings and collaboration. Employees are focused and available during core hours.

We invest in our offices to make them places where our employees like to go. If you work in the office three or more days a week, you will have a dedicated office workspace. Our offices function as hubs to draw people in, create social bonds, and where random connections and mixing of ideas happen. We’re investing more in offices, culture, and offsite meetings, not less.

Product teams are organized in regional product hubs for optimal collaboration and live within two time zones of their hub. Our current product hubs are located in Pleasanton, Los Angeles, Columbus, Boston, Kansas City, New York City, Raleigh, and Toronto. We create opportunities for teams to get together in person regularly.

Customer-facing roles, such as Sales and Professional Services, live near and/or travel to their customers.

When an employee moves within a country it does not cause a change in salary. Where you live impacts you and your family. Not knowing if your compensation will change if you move can cause stress and uncertainty for everyone. We wanted to eliminate that.

Work at Veeva. Work where it’s best for you.

A different kind of company. A Public Benefit Corporation.

Unlike a traditional corporation, whose only legal duty is to maximize shareholder value, PBCs consider their public benefit purpose and the interests of those materially affected by the corporation’s conduct—including customers, employees, and the community—in addition to shareholders’ interests.
